Outdoor Stripes 3 Ways
Striped Fabric Takes Outdoor Design
Something about clean stripes outside in the sunshine says “SUMMER!” From umbrellas to lounge chairs, outdoor striped fabric is a classic choice when designing a backyard oasis. Stripes are a perennial favorite… which is why Perennials offers many varieties. Small scale ticking stripes to more bohemian varieties like the Left Bank Stripe. We got you covered. Read on as three interior designers give their exterior take on stripes.
Using Perennials fabric allowed us to bring the curated scheme we achieved inside to this special nook.
Lakeside Blues
Bay area designer Julie Rootes took inspiration from this lakeside setting. Rootes covered cushions in Jake Stripe (Azure Sea) for a casual seating area down by the water. “This was a California coastal home located on the Belvedere Lagoon, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge,” Rootes explains. “The interior of the home had threads of blue which we carried through to the outdoor furnishings.”
Poolside Oasis
Lucas Interiors took on this Palm Springs project with a passion for pattern. The team extended this youthful energy outdoors and adorned teak chaises with cushions in Vintage Stripe (Sable).
“This sunny retreat in Old Las Palms (Palm Springs) had a clear design vision from the get-go. We gravitated away from the more expected mid-century Palm Springs experience and towards a playful, energetic, interpretation of the Spanish mission style that this home already embodied,” explains Suzie Lucas. “We sourced handmade Moroccan tiles for the pool coping, checkerboard tile for the exterior flooring and teak chaise lounges upholstered in bold Perennials fabric to bring life and vibrancy to this outdoor lounge.”
Nantucket Lounge
Carolyn Thayer lent her traditional East coast aesthetic to this lovely outdoor corner. Thayer used Perennials’ linen stripe Rough Outline for a casual yet sophisticated look. “When our client purchased this beautiful sprawling home beach side in Nantucket, we knew we had to make the most of each outdoor space in order for our client to optimize the fleeting summer season,’ says Thayer. “Using Perennials fabric allowed us to bring the curated scheme we achieved inside to this special nook.”
